Bob Harden Show – June 3 2026

Announcer: [00:00:00] Welcome back to the Bob Harden Show. And now here’s your host, Bob Harden.

Bob Harden: [00:00:06] Thanks so much for joining us here on the show. We’re providing you news and commentary rooted in a commitment to individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, and the rule of law. Coming up, we’re going to visit with Michael O’Neill, vice president for Landmark Legal Foundation. Right now we have with us Scott Beyer. He is the CEO of the Community Pregnancy Clinics. Scott, thank you so much for joining us here on the show.

Scott Baier: [00:00:28] Good morning Bob. Always a pleasure.

Bob Harden: [00:00:30] Thank you Scott. Tell us about the community pregnancy clinics.

Scott Baier: [00:00:33] Yes, we are a group of pregnancy centers around the state of Florida, offering care, compassion, and choices, free and confidential, life affirming pregnancy services including pregnancy tests, STI testing, referral services, and the all important ultrasound exam, which highlights the sights and sounds of life in the womb. We also provide education and material assistance for up to three years after the baby is born, and so much more. We’ve been around since 1973 and just doing great work around the state of Florida.

Bob Harden: [00:01:02] No question about it. It’s got it’s just, uh, so inspiring to see the results of your work. Uh, these babies, in many cases, are with parents at some of your celebrations. It’s just terrific to see. So you’re doing God’s work. Congratulations. Thank you. Absolutely. So, um, the government’s come out with a new website, moms.gov. Maybe you could tell us about it.

Scott Baier: [00:01:26] Yes. So it’s important to point out there’s over 3000 pregnancy care centers, life affirming care centers like ours around the country, providing hundreds of millions of dollars annually in free services and material support. In fact, over $452 million in 2024 alone, much of it privately funded, reducing pressure on taxpayer funded health and social service systems. And finally, the government has put all those resources under one umbrella called moms.gov. As you pointed out, this is basically a new federal resource designed to support women, children and families through pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting. The new website provides expecting and new mothers with access to practical information and life affirming support services, including pregnancy centers like ours, federally qualified health centers, nutritional guidance, breastfeeding resources, mental health support, adoption information, and other assistance programs. So we’re super excited we’re on there, along with the other thousands and thousands of other organizations that we’re really never under one umbrella before. And I think the government, the federal government, realized that they have a huge support system already in place that doesn’t come from taxpayer dollars, largely. And so it’s such a great effort. I’m so excited about it.

Bob Harden: [00:02:43] It’s exciting news. And of course, it’s an effort that puts families first as well. So it’s a it’s a great accomplishment indeed. So, uh, Scott, uh, also, there’s been an important case, uh, in the Florida Supreme Court or Florida court system about Planned Parenthood. Can you bring bring us up to date on what’s going on?

Scott Baier: [00:03:07] Yes, the real fight is actually just not at the state level, of course, but at the federal level. We know of July of 2025 was the defunding of Planned Parenthood local or nationally. Now what’s happened, what’s happened, though, is we know at the last minute, the 11th hour that turned into a one year defunding. And so that’s effective. You know, we have 30 days to see if this thing is going to be dealt with in the proper way. The bottom line Planned Parenthood has been federally defunded in a meaningful but limited way through a one year Medicaid reimbursement cutoff. People don’t realize that the Hyde Amendment is still in effect, and there is a federal ban on abortion from federal taxpayer dollars. But the workaround was always those Medicaid reimbursements. And so that’s what was cut off in July of 25. And again, it was only for one year. It was kind of a political football or is a political football. And we’re hoping Congress steps up in the next 30 days and extends. That makes it permanent because that’s really what it was initially intended to do. We do know states, you know, like California, Washington, Illinois. Those blue states, um, have spent this past year allocating emergency funds to offset the loss. So really, it hasn’t really impacted Planned Parenthood much this year. California alone committed over $140 million in state funds. Washington pledged to cover the entire gap in lost Medicaid reimbursements. People forget Planned Parenthood gets $832 million, according to their own annual report in 2425. $832 million in government health service reimbursements and grants. That’s only a third of their revenue. The other two thirds come from, of course, abortion revenue, which is 97% of all their all their revenue is from abortion and of course, from they have their own supporters. So this is the most successful nonprofit in the history of the world. And they’re being subsidized by our tax dollars still today.

Bob Harden: [00:05:11] Now, my recall is that the case in Florida has to do with misleading advertising. I don’t know if you wanted to comment on that at all.

Scott Baier: [00:05:19] Yeah. So the case has to deal with like, as you said, the misleading advertising. Um, and you know, I’m not sure where it stands right now actually, Bob, I have to plead ignorance there. But I know it’s one case among many of examples where Planned Parenthood, you know, is caught in the act of misleading women and children. And I want to point out here too that I don’t hold a grudge against the workers of Planned Parenthood. You know, many of them, unfortunately, are victims of abortion themselves. And we have a heart for them. There’s organizations out there that welcome them into, uh, kind of life affirming, jobs and roles. There’s one group by Abby Johnson called, And Then There Were None, which is great, but at the federal, at the executive level, we have politicians, we have big, big abortion, big pharma, big government all tied in. And unfortunately, in their boardrooms, we know from previous, Planned Parenthood executives that they want three by 30, which is code word for three abortions for every woman under 30. This is a big model of, of revenue. And unfortunately, women are being harmed. And of course, babies are as well. Of course.

Bob Harden: [00:06:36] Oh, how sad is that? So, Scott, all this costs a lot of money. How are you funded?

Scott Baier: [00:06:42] Yes. So we unlike the abortion industry, don’t get any federal taxpayer dollars. And we are privately supported from private individuals. And grants have been since 1974. Um, we have beautiful supporters out there who just believe in our mission and give time, talent and treasure and to, you know, make this a reality. Uh, I always say the, the abortion industry is about revenue and, their life affirming side is about care, compassion and choices. And, and that costs money. And so we do what we do because of the support of those individuals out there who believe in our mission.

Bob Harden: [00:07:17] Thank you Scott. So how can our listeners right now reach out, support you or become supportive of the pregnant community pregnancy?

Scott Baier: [00:07:25] Yes. Well, I’d encourage them to check out our website at supportcpci.com, supportcpci.com. And of course, if they’re in need of our services or know someone who is, they could go to communitypregnancyclinics.com.

Bob Harden: [00:07:40] Scott Baier, again, CEO of Community Pregnancy Clinics, really appreciate your commentary here on the show. Thank you so much for joining us.
